I had seen many Hornbills from afar whilst in Zambia and Malawi but they are notoriously illusive birds. Skilled at hiding in the tops of trees, behind leaves or simply flying away when approached. this challenge made capturing a shot of these impressive birds even more enticing to me. After a morning drive in South Luangwa national park and on the way back to the gate, Penelope (our dearly named car) passed right by a Crowned Hornbill which remained calm and in view. Perched proudly atop of an exposed branch, I seized the opportunity and am thrilled with the outcome.
